China’s steel sheet and plate exports totaled 4.75 million mt in the January-February period of the current year, down 26.1 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

The Chinese New Year holiday and the outbreak of the coronavirus exerted a negative impact on exports of steel sheet and plate in the given period. The rapid spread of the coronavirus worldwide has caused the halting of production and construction activities of downstream industries across the globe, which will negatively affect China’s exports of steel sheet and plate in the coming period.
