China’s steel production in Jan-Mar 2005

China's crude steel production increased 25.2% year on year in the first quarter of 2005 and reached 77.79 million tons. The pig iron production of the country increased 27.32% and reached 72.57 million tons. The country's rolled steel production increased 22.39% to 82.53 million tons in the same period. On the other hand, the rolled steel consumption of China rose by 11.01% to 83.31 million tons. The country's total steel output through 2005 is expected to reach 350 million tons.
