China’s steel plate imports down 8.5 percent in April

In April this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 110,000 mt, 30,000 mt, 920,000 mt, and 30,000 mt, down 0.6 percent, 21.8 percent, 8.5 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. 

In the January-April period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 370,000 mt, 100,000 mt, 3.57 million mt, and 120,000 mt, up 5.2 percent, down 32.8 percent, down 4.2 percent and decreasing by 5.3 percent, respectively, year on year.
