China’s steel bar imports up 2.6 percent in January-October

In October this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow profiles amounted to 90,000 mt,0.79 million and 30,000 mt, decreasing by 6.1 percent, 12.7 percent and 22.4 percent, respectively, year on year, while its import volume of angles/channels totaled 30,000 mt, up 12.6 percent year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-October period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, and steel pipes and hollow profiles amounted to 1 million mt, 330,000 mt and 340,000 mt, up 2.6 percent, 22.8 percent and 6.4 percent, respectively, year on year, while its import volume of steel plate amounted to 9.11 million mt, down 0.7 percent year on year.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in October this year China imported 0.95 million mt of finished steel, down 23.4 percent month on month and decreasing by 12.0 percent year on year. In the January-October period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 10.96 million mt, rising by 0.5 percent year on year.
