China’s steel bar exports increase by 24.4 percent in 2024

In 2024, China’s exports of steel bars totaled 13.44 million mt, up 24.4 percent year on year, while wire rod exports amounted to 2.62 million mt, up 7.8 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities. At the same time, China’s export volumes of angles/channels came to 5.91 million mt in the given period, increasing by 22 percent year on year.

In December alone, China’s exports of steel bars amounted to 1.46 million mt, up 95.8 percent year on year and rising by 10.6 percent month on month, while exports of wire rod and angles/channels amounted to 240,000 mt and 590,000 mt, up 13.7 percent and 49.3 percent year on year, and increasing by 14.3 percent and 15.7 percent month on month, respectively.
