China’s stainless steel exports down 35.17 percent in Jan-Mar 2026

In the January-March period this year, China’s stainless steel imports and exports amounted to 408,300 mt and 794,800 mt, down 9.44 percent and 35.17 percent year on year, respectively, according to China’s customs authorities.

In March alone, China’s stainless steel imports and exports totaled 147,400 mt and 302,200 mt, up 16.85 percent and up 16.22 percent month on month, while increasing by 12.57 percent and down 55.71 percent year on year, respectively.

In the first three months, China’s net export volume of stainless steel amounted to 386,500 mt, down 50.14 percent year on year.

In March alone, China’s net export volume of stainless steel totaled 154,800 mt, down 54.7 percent year on year.

In March this year, China’s stainless steel scrap imports amounted to 14,100 mt, up 6.03 percent month on month, while increasing by 124.94 percent year on year. In the January-March period this year, China’s stainless steel scrap imports totaled 41,800 mt, up 110.35 percent year on year.
