China’s stainless steel exports down 34.78 percent in Jan-Feb 2026

In the January-February period this year, China’s stainless steel imports and exports amounted to 257,300 mt and 492,700 mt, down 16.93 percent and 34.78 percent year on year, respectively, according to China’s customs authorities.

In February alone, China’s stainless steel imports and exports totaled 122,600 mt and 260,000 mt, down 15.32 percent and up 11.78 percent month on month, while decreasing by 23.39 percent and 5.53 percent year on year, respectively.

In the first two months, China’s net export volume of stainless steel amounted to 225,400 mt, down 48.0 percent year on year.

In February alone, China’s net export volume of stainless steel totaled 49,600 mt, up 56.49 percent year on year.

In February this year, China’s stainless steel scrap imports amounted to 13,300 mt, down 6.65 percent month on month, while increasing by 125.1 percent year on year. In the January-February period this year, China’s stainless steel scrap imports totaled 27,600 mt, up 101.67 percent year on year.
