China’s railway construction investments total RMB 809 billion in 2014

Sheng Guangzu, chief manager of China Railway Corporation (CRC), announced on January 29 in Beijing that China’s investments in railway construction amounted to RMB 808.8 billion ($130 billion) in 2014, with new railway lines totaling 8,427 kilometers in length entering operation during the year. 

As of the end of 2014, the total length of railway lines in operation in China amounted to 112,000 kilometers, including 16,000 kilometers of high-speed railways. In 2014, China’ railways carried 2.32 billion passengers, up 12 percent year on year.
