China’s export volumes of steel bars dropped by 21.6 percent year on year to 600,000 mt in November, according to the Chinese customs authorities. The pace of decline was up 1.8 percentage points from October, the decrease signals the lack of popularity of Chinese bars in Southeast Asia, which has been the major destination for Chinese exports.

However, China’s exports of steel sheet/plate totaled 2.68 million mt, down 15.3 percent year on year, 3.0 percentage points slower than the decrease in October.

In the January-November period of the year, China’s exports of steel bars and angles/channels totaled 9.05 million mt and 300,000 mt, down 25.2 percent, 6.9 percent, year on year, respectively, 0.2 percentage points, 2.0 percentage points slower than the decrease in the first ten months of the year, while China’s exports of steel sheet/plate and wire rod amounted to 35.78 million mt and 1.88 million mt, down 3.0 percent and 0.6 percent year on year, 1.2 percentage points and 0.2 percentage points faster than the decrease in the January-October period.
