China’s iron ore imports increase by five percent in 2017

In December last year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 84.14 million mt, down 11.0 percent month on month and decreasing by 5.4 percent year on year, while in the full year China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 1.07474 billion mt, up 5.0 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on January 12 2018. 

In December last year, China imported 1.20 million mt of finished steel, up 5.3 percent month on month and increasing by 0.8 percent year on year. In 2017, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 13.30 million mt, rising by 0.6 percent year on year.
