In May this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 94.135 million mt, up 13.5 percent month on month and increasing by 14.5 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on June 8. In the January-May period of this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 447.506 million mt, up 0.7 percent year on year.
In May, China imported 1.134 million mt of finished steel, up 8.5 percent month on month and increasing by 5.0 percent year on year. In the January-May period of this year, China imported 5.63 million mt of finished steel, down 0.7 percent year on year.
