China’s finished steel imports down 22.4 percent in January-August

In the January-August period this year, China imported 9.46 million mt of finished steel, down 22.4 percent year on year, 6.8 percentage points faster compared to the rate of decline recorded in the first seven months of the current year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on September 7.

In August alone, China imported 1.063 million mt of finished steel, down 52.5 percent year on year, while up 1.3 percent month on month.
