China’s coal imports increase by 89.6 percent in January-May

In the January-May period of the current year, China’s coal imports amounted to 182.059 million mt, rising by 89.6 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on June 7.

In May alone, China’s coal imports totaled 39.584 million mt, down 2.69 percent month on month, while increasing by 19.034 million mt or 92.62 percent compared to the same period last year.
