The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has announced that in October this year China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 105.9944 million mt, down 24.71 percent month on month, valued at $7.716 billion. In the January-October period of the current year, the MOC issued iron ore import licenses for a total of 1.2081163 billion mt, valued at $86.525 billion.
In October this year, the iron ore import licenses issued by China for Australian and Brazilian iron ore amounted to 67.3847 million mt and 23.5972 million mt respectively, down 24.75 percent and 20.4 percent month on month, with respective values of $4.844 billion and $1.776 billion. In the January-October period of the current year, the iron ore import licenses issued for Australian and Brazilian iron ore totaled 741.175 million mt and 256.1905 million mt, valued at $52.256 billion and $19.539 billion, respectively.
Licenses issued for imports of Indian iron ore in October amounted to 1.1612 million mt, down 14.8 percent month on month, valued at $118 million, while licenses issued for iron ore from other countries amounted to 13.8512 million mt, valued at $978 million. In the January-October period of the current year, the import licenses issued for iron ore from India and other countries amounted to 31.9372 million mt and 178.1137 million mt, valued at $2.293 billion and $12.437 billion, respectively.
