China imports record volume of iron ore in January

According to the Chinese customs authorities, China imported a record monthly volume of 68.97 million mt of iron ore in January, up by 10.89 million mt month on month and increasing by 47.9 percent year on year.
 
In January this year finished steel exports from China rose to 3.12 million mt, up by 0.27 million mt month on month and rising by 8.2 percent year on year. On the other hand, China imported 1.64 million mt of finished steel in January, up by 0.23 million mt month on month and up by 21.6 percent year on year.
 
In January, China imported 80,000 mt of semi-finished steel products, up by 10,000 mt month on month and up by 126.5 percent year on year. In addition, In addition, China exported 0.19 million mt of coking coal in the month of January, up 400.7 percent year on year.
