China holds 57% of new shipbuilding orders in global market in January

In January this year, China attracted 57 percent of new shipbuilding orders in the global market, while South Korea held a 33 percent share, according to the data issued by Clarksons, the world’s leading provider of integrated shipping services.

In the given month, 1.96 million CGT of new shipbuilding orders were transacted in the global market, down 63 percent year on year. In particular, 1.12 million CGT of new shipbuilding orders were claimed by Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
