Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant increases rail and beam output in 2017

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of Russian mining and steel producing group Mechel, has announced that it produced a total of 635,000 mt of products in 2017, rising by 23 percent compared to the previous year. The products include 357,000 mt of rails, with 330,000 mt sold to Russian Railways, and 278,000 mt of beams.

Meanwhile, the company has produced a total of 1.5 million mt of high-quality beams and rails up to 100 meters in length since its launch in 2012. Since 2012, the rails produced by the company have been delivered to Russian Railways, Moscow Metro and to some major Russian companies including Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), Severstal and others, and have also been exported to Belarus and Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, the beams produced at the company have been delivered to wagon-building facilities, steelmakers and mining companies.
