In 2009 China's Sichuan Province-based Changcheng Special Steel Co., a subsidiary of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group (based in the same province), recorded a stainless crude steel output of 70,000 metric tons. Meanwhile, the producer's stainless steel seamless pipe output for the year in question was 5,000 metric tons, down 1,512 metric tons or 23.2 percent year on year.

As regards 2010, Changcheng Special Steel has indicated that it will remain dedicated to the state-funded reconstruction work in the aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake disaster, and will also discuss cooperation with Anshan Iron and Steel. The producer has also stated that it is continuing certification work especially in relation to titanium, titanium alloys and hot rolled plain bars from its continuous rolling bar plant, which will help it achieve greater market access.
