Australia-based iron ore company Centaurus Metals Limited has announced that it has lodged the mining lease application for its Jambreiro iron ore project located in Brazil's southeastern state of Minas Gerais.

The mining lease application which has been lodged with Brazil's National Department of Mineral Production follows the recent approval of the company's final exploration reports for the three key tenements at Jambreiro.
The approval of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) by SUPRAM, the environmental authority of State of Minas Gerais, is a prerequisite for the approval of the mining lease application.

In March, the company lodged Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) documents with SUPRAM regarding the project and expects to receive approval in October, with the first iron ore scheduled to be produced from Jambreiro by the end of 2013.

In October 2011, Centaurus announced that the JORC compliant resource estimate for the Jambreiro iron ore project totaled 116.5 million mt, grading 26.8 percent Fe.
