According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in May 2019 totaled 4,892,296 mt, an 18.3 percent increase from April and an 86.9 percent increase from May 2018. Of that total, 337,584 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 4,554,712 mt was exported.
Year-to-date, Canadian iron ore shipments totaled 19,555,926 mt as of May, up 25.6 percent from the same five-month period of 2018.
Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of May totaled 7,194,190 mt, down 6.6 percent from April levels and up 13.7 percent from levels in May 2018.
