Canadian iron ore shipments down 22.9 percent in May

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in May 2018 totaled 2,617,239 mt, a 22.9 percent decrease from April and a 27.9 percent decrease from May 2017. Of that total, 455,177 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 2,162,062 mt was exported.

Year-to-date iron ore shipments through May totaled 15,574,858 mt, down 12.6 percent from the same period of 2017.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of May totaled 10,025,357 mt, up 4.9 percent from April levels but up 201.6 percent from levels in May 2017.
