Canadian coking coal production down 3.9 percent in January

According to Statistics Canada, coking coal production reached 197,634 mt in January 2018, down 3.9 percent from the 205,717 mt produced in December. On a year-on-year analysis, production reflected a 7.4 percent increase from the 184,101 mt produced in January 2017.

The supply of coking coal in Canada in January reached 259,299 mt, which represents a 7.4 percent increase from the 241,365 mt of supply in December but a 2.5 percent increase from the 253,065 mt of supply in January 2017.
