Canadian coking coal production dips 0.9 percent in August

According to Statistics Canada, coking coal production reached 182,512 mt in August 2017, down 0.9 percent from the 184,114 mt produced in July. On a year-on-year analysis, production reflected a 2.2 percent decrease from the 186,586 mt produced in August 2016.

The supply of coking coal in Canada in August reached 263,996 mt, which represents a 9.9 percent increase from the 240,246 mt of supply in July and a 13.4 percent increase from the 232,868 mt of supply in August 2016.
