Bulgaria’s industrial output index drops 1.4 percent in Feb from Jan levels

According to Bulgaria's National Statistical Institute, the country's seasonally adjusted industrial production index increased by 15.2 percent in February this year as compared to the same month of 2010, but decreased by 1.4 percent as compared to January 2011.
 
In February this year as compared to January, Bulgaria's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in the mining and quarrying industry decreased by 13 percent, it declined in the manufacturing sector by 5.7 percent, while in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply an increase of 8.1 percent was registered.
 
The most significant decreases of production in manufacturing were seen in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, excepting machinery and equipment, with a fall of 21.9 percent, in the manufacture of paper and paper products, with a drop of 7.7 percent, and in the manufacture of basic metals with a decline of 6.7 percent. There was an increase of 6.1 percent in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, a rise of 4.9 percent in the manufacture of beverages, and a 4.4 percent increase in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products.
