BSRM to expand billet output with new ladle furnace and concaster from Danieli

Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that it will supply a new ladle furnace and a continuous casting machine for the Chittagong-based Mirsarai steel plant of Bangladeshi steel producer Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills (BSRM). The new ladle furnace and continuous casting machine will increase the annual billet production capacity of BSRM which now stands at 480,000 mt per year. 
 
Danieli stated that the 55 mt ladle furnace, equipped with two ladle transfer cars to give maximum operational flexibility, will refine steel coming from two induction furnaces. Meanwhile, the three-strand continuous caster will be designed to produce 160 mm square billets
 
Presently, BSRM is operating two ladle furnaces, two continuous casters and two rolling mills supplied by Danieli.
