According to the Brazilian Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (ANFAVEA), automotive production in Brazil reached 238,500 units (cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, and buses) in April, 9.5 percent less than the 263,600 units produced in March 2026.
Domestic vehicle sales declined by 7.8 percent to 248,300 units, while exports grew by 8.2 percent to 43,200 units.
Compared with April 2025, April 2026 production increased by 2.4 percent, domestic sales rose by 19 percent, and exports declined by 11.7 percent.
When compared with the first four months of 2026, during the same period in 2025, production increased by 4.9 percent to 872,600 units, domestic sales increased by 14.9 percent to 873,500 units and exports declined by 16.9 percent to 142,400 units.
According to ANFAVEA’s president Igor Calvet, with two fewer working days, April did not repeat the good numbers of March, but it was a month with positive indicators compared with the same period a year earlier, showing a market in continuous recovery of volumes.
In his view, the point of attention in ANFAVEA’s monthly report is that the volume of imported vehicle registrations continues to rise, even after the arrival of new manufacturers in the country.
