The Brazilian Senate approved on Tuesday an executive order to create a new mining agency.

The executive order was published in the country’s official gazette in July this year, and after approval from the nation’s Senate, it will need the approval of president Michel Temer in order to become a law.

The mining agency will be called the National Mining Agency, ANM, and will be expected to implement policies for the local mining sector, establish industry norms, as well as manage information and the use of mineral resources in Brazil.
