Brazilian energy regulator suspends license for ArcelorMittal power plant

Brazilian energy regulator, Aneel, has suspended the license of a power plant owned by ArcelorMittal Brazil, SteelOrbis has learned.

According to the Aneel decision, the ArcelorMittal-owned power plant PCH Madame Denise had its license revoked to commercially operate, the reason of which was not disclosed as the terms of the suspension remain confidential. The suspension was a decision of the regulator’s inspecting department.

The plant has a 2.88 megawatt installed capacity and two generating units:  UG1 and UG3. The facility is located in the city of Taquaraçu de Minas, in the state of Minas Gerais.

ArcelorMittal Brazil owns several power plants, which provide energy for the company’s steelmaking needs.
