Brazil’s chamber of foreign trade, Camex, has extended on Tuesday existing antidumping (AD) duties over the Chinese and Romanian imports of line pipe for another five years, according to a document filing published on Tuesday at the country’s official gazette.
According to Camex, the product subject to the existing duties falls under the Mercosur HTS code 7304.19.00.
Camex said all Chinese producers and exporters will continue paying a $743/mt duty for their exports of line pipe to Brazil. For Romanian producers and exporters, the ad-valorem duty of 14.3 percent over the CIF price will be maintained. The duties are effective as of August 22, 2017.
The duties were applied following a decision of a council on August 15 and following a request from Brazilian tube and pipe producer Vallourec & Mannesmann Tubes do Brasil S.A on October 2010.
At the time, Vallourec asked for a probe into the Chinese exports line pipe with a diameter of up to 141.3 cm. The Brazilian government started an investigation on December 20, 2010.
On September 8, 2011, Brazil decided to apply definite AD duties of $743/mt over the Chinese exports of the product for a period of five years, which were renewed this week.
