Bolivia is mulling a mining council to regulate the sector, the country’s mining ministry said in a report this week, adding that a sectorial council would help the Bolivian government to ink inter-governmental deals to improve managing levels in the mining sector.

The council would be established as part of the country’s Decentralization and Autonomy regulation. Additionally, it would also provide data to help the Bolivian government determine the royalties the mining sector could generate.

Bolivia’s National Service Register Service for Trade and Control of Minerals and Metals, Senarecom, worked for months on a proposal that is now being evaluated by the vice-ministry of mining.
