Belarus-based Byelorussian Steel Works (BMZ) has stated that in July this year it has set new records in steel smelting. For the first time, the producer's electrical arc steelmaking furnace No. 1 smelted 78,896 mt of steel, 2,301 mt more than the former record set in October 2012 when steel production reached 76,595 mt.

Production of billets at the continuous casting machine No. 2 totaled 83,635 mt in July, 1,060 mt more than the previous record of 82,672 mt set in January 2012. The new record outputs are just considered to be steps towards the achievement of projected capacities at the production facilities in question.
