Belarus-based Byelorussian Steel Works (BMZ) has stated that it has launched its dynamic reactive power compensation system. This facility is one of the stages of modernization of electrical equipment at the main step-down power substations.

The implemented dynamic reactive power compensation system with 185 MVAr is intended for two arc furnaces and a steel ladle. It will allow stabilization of voltage during steelmaking, which will reduce loading, smelting time and electricity consumption.

BMZ is expecting to make 23.7 million kilowatt-hours of savings due to its launch of the dynamic reactive power compensation system.
