Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Steel Group has announced that on July 25 it started construction work on a flue gas desulfurization project at its 360 square meter sintering machine.

The project will adopt the wet limestone-gypsum method of desulfurization for flue gases, while it will achieve denitrition and dust removal at the same time. Completion of the project is scheduled for July 2013, while it is expected to achieve a reduction of 11,000 mt per year in sulfur dioxide emissions. Benxi Steel carried out flue gas desulfurization projects on two 265 square meter sintering machines in 2011.
