Australian iron ore development company BC Iron Limited has announced that it achieved record iron ore production and shipment volumes from its Nullagine joint venture in the last quarter of 2011.
In the given quarter, BC Iron produced 681,135 mt of iron ore, up 19 percent quarter on quarter, from its Nullagine iron ore joint venture in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, equally owned by BC Iron and Australian miner Fortescue. BC Iron started iron ore exports from its Nullagine project in the first half of 2011 and shipped 683,718 mt of iron ore in December quarter, rising 70 percent compared to the previous quarter.
BC Iron stated that it is considering potential acquisition opportunities, "focusing on iron ore hematite projects with direct shipping ore potential in Australia and overseas."
