Baotou Steel expects to record a profit for 2010 following 2009 losses

According to the preliminary estimates issues by Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steel producer Baotou Iron and Steel Group (Baotou Steel), in 2010 its net profit is expected to reach RMB 150-250 million ($22.8-38.0 million), while earnings per share (EPS) are foreseen to be in the range of RMB 0.02-0.04 ($0.003-0.006).
 
In 2009, Baotou Steel had recorded a net loss of RMB 1.631 billion ($248 million), with EPS of minus RMB 0.25 ($0.038).
 
In 2010, Baotou Steel produced 9.7 million mt of pig iron, rising by 0.52 percent as compared with 2009, and 10.12 million mt of crude steel, up 0.47 percent year on year.
