Baosteel ranks first worldwide for output and sales of strip for shadow masks

Chinese steel giant Baoshan Iron and steel Corporation Ltd (Baosteel) has announced that it now ranks first worldwide in terms of having the largest production and sales volumes of steel strips for shadow masks (used in color televisions), with its domestic market share reaching 95 percent. In the first 10 months of the current year, Baosteel has recorded production and overall sales volumes both equal to 13,000 mt, five times higher than five years ago.

It is estimated that worldwide annual consumption of steel strips for shadow masks will reach almost 30,000 mt in the coming years.
