Baosteel announces Q2 prices

SteelOrbis Shanghai On February 28, Baosteel released its price list for the second quarter of 2007. Most of the prices increased. The details are as follows: I. Semi finished steel 1. Die steel, structural pipe steel, drilling pipe steel, pipe billet, and forging steel increased RMB 100/mt ($13/mt). The price of B30M increased RMB 250/mt ($32/mt), while that of B30PH increased RMB 200/mt ($26/mt). 2. Upward adjustment was made to the prices of the following ferronickel products due to the rising nickel prices: the price of 718 increased RMB 1,200/mt ($155/mt); that of B30H increased RMB 2,000/mt ($258/mt); that of B40 increased RMB 5,000/mt ($646/mt); while 36CrNiMo4 increased RMB 1,000/mt ($129/mt). 3. Q1 prices are in effect for other semi finished products. II. Wire rod 1. Cold heading wiring rod of series “A” and “K”, SWRH32, ML15, ML15AL, and ML35 increased RMB 150/mt ($19/mt), while the B-CH1T price increased RMB 100/mt ($13/mt). 2. The price of pre-stressed steel stranded wire rod SWRH82B-2 increased RMB 200/mt ($26/mt). 3. The price of high carbon steel S20C-S53C increased RMB 150/mt ($19/mt). 4. The price of welded wire rod BH08MnMoTiB increased RMB 150/mt ($19/mt). 5. Q1 prices are in effect for the other products. III. Hot rolled Q1 prices are still effective for common structural steel, while prices of other products are up RMB 200/mt ($26/mt) on the whole. The price of SPHC grade 3.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is at RMB 3,942/mt ($509/mt), up RMB 200/mt ($26/mt) compared with that of Q1, while that of SS400 grade 5.5 mm x 1,500 mm x C remained unchanged at RMB 3,892/mt ($503/mt). Notes: in Baosteel's HR price list, “common structural steel” generally covers SS400, SS330, St37-2, SPHT1, and SPHT2. IV. Hot rolled pickled & oiled Prices increased RMB 300/mt ($39/mt), with SPHC grade 3.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C now at RMB 4,897/mt ($633/mt). V. Cold rolled 1. Prices increased RMB 300/mt ($39/mt). 2. On the above basis, products with thickness <0.5 mm saw an additional increase of RMB 100/mt ($13/mt). The price of SPCC grade 0.5 mm x 1,000 mm x C is now at RMB 5,516/mt ($713/mt), while that of 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is at RMB 5,096/mt ($658/mt). VI. Full hard coil 1. Based on the price list for March, the April prices are up RMB 200/mt ($26/mt). 2. On the above basis, products with thickness <0.2 mm saw an additional increase of RMB 100/mt ($13/mt). VII. Hot dip galvanized 1. Prices are up RMB 200/mt ($26/mt). 2. On the above basis, zinc alloy prices saw an additional increase of RMB 150/mt ($19/mt), with the price of 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C DC51D+Z at RMB 5,227/mt ($675/mt). VIII. Aluminum-zinc Prices increased RMB 300/mt ($39/mt). IX. Electro-galvanized and fingerprint-resistant electro-galvanized Prices saw an overall increase of RMB 300/mt ($39/mt), while a further upward adjustment of RMB 200/mt ($26/mt) was made to the fingerprint-resistant electro-galvanized products. X. Color coated Based on the price list for March, the April prices are up RMB 250/mt ($32/mt) on the whole. XI. Wide heavy plate Prices increased RMB 100/mt ($13/mt) on the whole. Shipbuilding plate increased RMB 200/mt ($26/mt), while boiler and container steel increased RMB 100/mt ($13/mt). The price of SS400 grade 30 mm x 2,000 mm x 12,000 mm is at RMB 4,500/mt ($581/mt), while that of shipbuilding plate 20 mm x 2,000 mm x 12,000 mm is at RMB 5,050/mt ($652/mt). XII. Electrical steel 1. Prices increased RMB 700/mt ($90/mt) for specifications of B50(65)A1000 and below B50(65)A1000. 2. Prices increased RMB 600/mt ($78/mt) for B50(65)A600-B50(65)A800. 3. Prices increased RMB 500/mt ($65/mt) for specifications of B50A470 and above B50A470. 4. Q1 prices are valid for B35A440-B35A550. XIII. Electrolytic tin plate All prices increased RMB 100/mt ($13/mt). XIV. Steel pipe 1. Seamless pipe: oil pipe remained constant. 2. ERW welded pipe: prices of structural pipe increased RMB 200/mt ($26/mt), while that of pipeline are up RMB 300/mt ($39/mt). All the above prices exclude 17 percent VAT. $1 = RMB 7.74
