As Shanghai-based Chinese steel giant Baosteel has reported, its subsidiary Inner Mongolia-based Baogang Wanteng Iron and Steel Co. (Baogang Wanteng Steel) commissioned its new high speed wire rod production line on November 8.
The new wire rod production line is part of the first phase of Baogang Wanteng Steel's environment-friendly project for the construction of an additional 2 million mt annual steel output capacity which is expected to cost RMB 3.08 billion ($485 million). The first phase of the project has included construction of a 1,166 cubic meter blast furnace, two sintering machines, a 120 mt converter and the abovementioned high speed wire rod production line.
