Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steelmaker Baotou Iron and Steel Co. (Baogang Group) has announced that in June this year its outputs of pig iron, crude steel and finished steel amounted to 753,200 mt, 808,600 mt and 792,600 mt, lower compared to 837,400 mt, 880,400 mt and 839,600 mt respectively in May.
In the January-June period of the current year, the group's outputs of pig iron, crude steel and finished steel totaled 4.8138 million mt, 5.0708 million mt and 4.821 million mt, all exceeding the targeted outputs.
In 2012, the group had produced 9.6001 million mt of pig iron, 10.0815 million mt of crude steel and 9.5435 million mt of finished steel.
In the first six months this year, the iron ore produced by the mines owned by Baogang Group accounted for 60.31 percent of the iron ore used in the group's production, 1.91 percentage points higher than the targeted level. In 2012, 59.01 percent of the iron ore used in Baogang Group's production was supplied from the group's own mines.
