In mid-May (May 11-20) this year, the average prices in China of 16-25 mm HRB 400 rebar, and 6.5 mm HPB 300 wire rod were respectively recorded at RMB 4,088.0/mt ($639.8/mt) and RMB 4,252.2/mt ($665.5/mt), decreasing by RMB 4.7/mt ($0.74/mt) and RMB 16.2/mt ($2.54/mt), i.e., down 0.1 percent and 0.4 percent, compared to prices in early May (May 1-10), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
In mid-May, the average prices in China of 3 mm Q235 hot rolled sheet and 219 mm x 6 mm seamless pipes were recorded at RMB 4,291.3/mt ($671.6/mt) and RMB 5,252.5/mt ($822.0/mt), increasing by RMB 24.8/mt ($3.9/mt) and RMB 6.1/mt ($0.95/mt) compared to early May.
Meanwhile, in the period in question the average prices in China of 20 mm Q235 common medium plate and 5 mm x 5 mm angles were recorded at RMB 4,404.5/mt ($689.3/mt) and RMB 4,300.5/mt ($673.0/mt), almost stable compared to the average price in early May.
