ArcelorMittal Temirtau to continue investments to reduce emissions

ArcelorMittal Temirtau, the largest metallurgical enterprise in Kazakhstan, has announced that, as part of its 2017-19 investment program, it will continue to invest in environmental projects in the current year for the modernization, reconstruction and installation of purification equipment at its metallurgical plant. Accordingly, during the three years, 2017, 2018 and 2019, the company will invest a total of KZT 18.5 billion ($56.18 million) in environmental projects. In 2017, the company already invested KZT 5.3 billion ($16.09 million) in modernization projects to reduce emissions.

In the current year, ArcelorMittal Temirtau plans to start the first stage of the modernization of its sinter machine No. 5 with the installation of an electrostatic precipitator and also work will begin on the installation of a new electrostatic precipitator in the limestone burning shop. In the following years, the installation of electrostatic precipitators on sinter machines Nos. 6 and 7 will be carried out as well.
