ArcelorMittal suspends production at Zenica after Russian gas cuts

The world's largest steelmaker ArcelorMittal has temporarily suspended production at its Zenica plant in Bosnia due to the reduced gas supplies from Russia to Europe.

Accordingly, the company's coke plant in Bosnia will continue to operate at a higher level to generate more coke oven gas to compensate for the natural gas shortage, while the blast furnace of the plant has been put on stand-by. No other ArcelorMittal plants are affected by the cut in gas supplies from Russia.

Zenica has an annual production capacity of 2 million mt and employs more than 3,000 people.
