ArcelorMittal Galati improves product quality at BF No. 5

Global steel giant ArcelorMittal’s Romania-based subsidiary ArcelorMittal Galati has announced that it has completed the planned investment and maintenance works at blast furnace (BF) No. 5 and started production at the furnace. The purpose of this comprehensive upgrade package is to improve the quality of the products and customer services, as well as to enhance health and safety at work.

The works in question, carried out with an investment of about €30 million, were performed at the sinter plant of blast furnace No. 5, where the cooling system was replaced, but mainly focused on the steel melting shop, where a new converter, a high capacity crane and other equipment have been installed.
