ArcelorMittal Brazil, the local subsidiary of ArcelorMittal, has extended the halt at its No. 2 blast furnace, located at its Tubarão mill, located in Vitoria, Espirito Santo state, according to media reports.

The company had originally planned the halt at its No. 2 blast furnace at its Tubarao mill to take 70 days. The company halted the 1.5 million mt/year blast furnace on June 23 due to weak domestic market conditions. The Tubarão mill has a 7.5 million mt/year flat steel capacity.

ArcelorMittal Brazil did not provide an estimate on when it could resume the idled blast furnace, other than stating it would be around the end of this year.
