Anglo American’s Q3 iron ore production declines in Brazil

A pre-scheduled maintenance operation at the Minas-Rio iron ore system of Anglo American has negatively impacted its production in the third quarter of this year.

During Q3 2023, iron ore production at the Minas-Rio system declined by seven percent to 5.66 million mt, when compared to Q3 2022.

The average sales price declined by seven percent from Q3 2022, achieving $106/mt, with a 67 percent average Fe contents of the ore during the period.

The production target for the Minas-Rio system of Anglo American is maintained in the 22 to 24 million mt for 2023, while the production costs of the system is expected to stand at $33/mt for the year.
