Alfa Acciai acquires EAF plant near Brescia

The bankruptcy auction for the former Montirone, Brescia facilities of Italian steel producer Stefana has been won by Italian steelmaker Alfa Acciai, a major rebar producer in the EU.

Alfa Acciai won with a bid of €2.805 million for the plant which includes an 330,000 mt capacity electric arc furnace (EAF), with 70 employees, that was used to produce billets. Alfa Acciai also plans to invest at least €3 million in the revamping of the facilities.
