AK Steel announces increased May surcharges

AK Steel has announced it will add a $190 per net ton surcharge to invoices for all flat rolled carbon steel products shipped in May 2006, a $1 /nt increase from last month's flat rolled surcharge. For electrical steel shipments in May 2006, the company will add a $215 per net ton surcharge, a $15 /nt increase from April's electrical steel surcharge. AK's surcharges are based on raw material and energy costs, with the March 2006 purchase cost used to determine the May 2006 surcharges.
