Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) plans to inaugurate on Thursday a new pig iron desulphurization plant, according to media reports. The plant will be operated by Metaloids, which invested MXN 45 million ($2.96 million) in the project.

The plant is located in a 400-square-meter area and should have a 80,000 mt monthly capacity, according to reports, which said it could increase its capacity depending on AHMSA’s needs.

The pig iron desulphurization plant will be located at AHMSA’s BOF in the Steel 1 project.
