Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) has advanced works at its No. 5 blast furnace, a media report from Vanguardia said.

The steelmaker is building a second hopper equipment for the furnace, so it can better handle materials during the foundry processes. Works are reportedly 65 percent complete, the media report said.

AHMSA has a hopper equipment with six units, each with a 500 mt capacity to supply iron ore, sinter feed, coke and other materials to blast furnace No. 5.

An additional unit would supply other materials, including carbon magnesium, titanium, among others.
