Turkish welded pipe prices decline

Turkish welded pipe prices have moved down down over the past week, mainly under pressure from almost non-existent demand and negative expectations regarding the future development of the current situation.

In the past week, domestic prices have decreased by $25/mt on the lower end and by $15/mt on the upper end to $490-515/mt ex-works. One producer is still officially offering $530/mt ex-works, but discounts are also possible. Sales within the scope of project-based contracts continue, but there is no demand in the spot market. Accordingly, the pipe producers who have long-term domestic contracts are in a somewhat better position, while export trade has been almost zero recently.

Export prices have decreased by $15/mt since last week to $490-500/mt FOB. “The important thing now is the demand. When companies have real buyers, everyone can be flexible on prices in this market situation,” a producer told SteelOrbis.

** Prices are given for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219, on theoretical weight basis.
